Scheduled
CloudSigma would like to inform you of upgrades to our core switches; we will be performing an upgrade which will solve the stability issues seen recently. It includes both hardware and software upgrades. Based on internal testing the lowest risk with minimal impact methodology has been found to be as follows:

(1) Prepare the switches for upgrade
(2) Pause the VMs in order to prevent kernel panic
(3) Replace the equipment
(4) Run the upgrade
(5) Bring VMs back from pause

This will prevent data corruption and will minimize downtime, which is expected to be a maximum of 30 seconds to one minute per node.

All support activities will be conducted under the direct supervision of CloudSigma’s operations staff.

IMPACT:
During the maintenance some VMs will stop receiving packets for about few seconds. Due to the new lib iscsi connection no kernel panic and data corruption is expected. It is anticipated that it will solve the stability issues seen recently. Also will allow us to perform such upgrades in future without impact on customer’s infrastructure.

Please accept our sincere apologies for the caused inconveniences.

Thank you for your understanding.

While it is important for CloudSigma to perform maintenance such as this to ensure the quality of our services, we try to do everything possible to minimize any inconvenience to our customers. We appreciate your patience and welcome any feedback.
